Came here for a Christmas party get together and this place is pretty cool. The upstairs area is cool and spacious. The drinks are a bit pricey, though. The parking here is pretty bad, too. You have to find street parking in the area, so get there early if you're having an event there. Otherwise, I'm not sure if they have happy hour or anything, but I imagine that would make the drink prices more reasonable. So you decide.. a Jameson on the rocks and a "Wells" whiskey and Coke was about 18 bucks after a 20% tip. So yeah.. decide for yourself. Otherwise, cool spot for sure.

Special note: When I saw several of the one star reviews here below, I scratched my head, wondering if these persons visited the same place as me, or, if they were waitstaff at another competing bar, sent to just write negative reviews. And so, I clicked on the names to see what other reviews they had done, and determined that these are not reputable reviewers. On to my review: I had the pleasure of being an invitee at a recent Houston Food Blogger Collective event here, an opportunity to sample the food. I enjoyed everything very much. This is a great bar. Caveat: It has a lot of reflective surfaces, being the actual home of Ross Sterling back in the day, and the noise level is high. Of the food sampled: macaroni and cheese standard and also with brisket, whole potatoes quartered, boiled and then fried upon order for excellent steak type fries, a very good burger with quality meat, an esquites style corn dish but using sweet corn instead of dent corn as would be used in Mexico. We thought that the house batter that was used for the battered and fried avocado slices was excellent. I did not sample the cocktails but our group (see photos) gave thumbs up to the cocktails.
